Reading like a Writer, by Francine Prose — because reading is the all-important first requirement
The Shortest Distance Between You and a Published Book, by Susan Page — this is a great book on the publishing process
The Writer's Journey: Mythic Structure for Writers, by Christopher Vogler — I adore this book, and go back to it often
